As well as being a primary school teacher for over 20 years I'm a mum of two children (aged 14 and 18) and I am married to a teacher so learning, school life and education has always been a huge part of my life.
I am a lively, enthusiastic teacher and am committed to bringing out the best in every young person I work with. I believe that learning should always be FUN and if they feel safe and inspired then they will learn and succeed. My teaching approach is always flexible, focusing on the needs of the individual, whether that be through their preferred learning style or by utilising their personal interests to encourage their engagement.
A particular interest of mine is the well-being and self-esteem of young people and I feel that the biggest barrier to learning today is a lack of confidence and low levels of resilience. In order to overcome this, all my lessons and activities are challenging but are taught in a safe, comfortable environment where failure is encouraged and a mutual respect is developed between myself and the young people I work with. This is not only key for them to achieve their educational goals but also a vital life skill which they will benefit from as they enter the world of employment in years to come.
